I was a preppy choir kid. I had my music friends and then I had my nonmusical friends. I pretty much got along with everyone, I knew everyone even though I graduated with about 500 people. My senior year I had 5 hours of music, but no band or orchestra for me, all choir. Well unless Jazz Band and Jazz Combo counts. I was so busy during highschool I was never home. Infact, my whole highschool experience was a whirlwind of activity.

what was I like in high school. 3 words will sum this up.

YOUR WORSE NIGHTMARE>

In my 5th year of High School, while I was taking a full day schedule, early morning class and 3 night classes a week to get enough credits to graduate... my dad laughed and said...

"All your friends are either graduated or taking it easy this year, and you're working your butt of to graduate... don't you feel stupid?"

I laughed back and told him...

"I don't know dad, they worked hard for 3 years to earn one year of taking it easy... I played for 4 years and now have to work hard for 1... who is the stupid one? ;~D

What was I like in high school? In a high school filled with tight cliques, I was the enigma. I hung around with the "burnouts" in the parking lot, had friends who were "Cowboys", was often seen talking with the "popular" types, "Jocks" and "cheerleaders"... oh yeah, and played Dungeons & Dragons with the geeks.

Most people thought I smoked, but didn't. My rep was of a burnout, but the burnouts didn't think so. Mostly I was the guy who you could turn to if you just needed to talk.. who wouldn't tell you "oh, I have to get to class, no time to talk now"... I was the guy in the parking lot with the biggest boom box blaring out the loudest music. The guy who sometimes actually made it to class...

Oh yeah, and I was a drama geek... ;~D

so, I guess, in a nutshell, I was just "that guy" ;~D

Ted....you must be my long lost social life double, at least during my 3 years of HS ( did the extra credit thingy and graduated early )
I did the Chorus thing, played sports, hung out with my share of "Heads" and "Reds", and as a lost geek ( coulda graduated in 9th grade if not for for Social Promotion Legislation ) I knew my way around a pocket protector...

Still doing the social gadfly act in my 40's, no particular clique ( cept maybe this JU crowd )

What was I like in HS?  I got along with the "hoods"  ( juvenile deliquents) the "loners", the misfits, the clique, and the teachers.

I was in Girl Scouts from kindergarten through 12 grade and most of them were the clique girls and they kind of "adopted me" like a mascot as I didn't fit into any one mold or group.

I was naive, trusting, and happy.

I took choir 7th and 8th grade...then switched to Auto shop my freshman year. (We go 6-7th=middle school, 9-12th= high school)

The two classes I actually liked, (creative writing, ceramics) were due to the fact that I was screwing the teachers.

Hey! Yeah boi! I'm a D&D'er. Been RPGing D&D for...oh...6-7 years. RPGing in general for much longer...(8ish...i think)

I "grew" into drama/film the few months after HS. Go figure...

I was naive, trusting, and happy.

Ding! Ding! Ding! I was pretty much all three as well...occasionally I wasn't too happy, but, definantly naive, and very trusting. Only once (that i can remember at the moment) was I "betrayed". (A 'freind' borrowed 35 dollars and never payed me back.)

Very quiet, good student. Graduated 10th in my class, had two best girlfriends that were sisters. Chased around school by a few of the boys during my jr-sr years but didn't date until mid Senior year with an older boy from another town. Very involved in sports playing field hockey and track mostly. Loved to read; still do. Wasn't widely popular but wasn't a druggie either. Sort of in the middle class I guess. I was pretty sqeaky clean; grew up in a small town with not much going on.

never went to any reunions. Didn't care that much for my class I guess. Not that attached. The best part of school was that it was close to the ocean. Loved to skip school in the early spring and head down to the beach. Loved the beach.

Hmmm...

I was a dork I guess. My school had the "heirarchy"--the popular kids, the kids who thought they were popular but really weren't, the dairy farmer's kids, then my little group, and then the misfits. And you really only socialized with the groups that "hugged" you, so I had my group, but talked to the dairy farmer's kids and the misfits, too.

I did lots of different things in high school. I wish I would have focused more on my studies though and earned some scholarships. I did choir, knowledge bowl, track and field, golf, student council, National Honor Society, church stuff. I wish I would have done drama and FLA and gone with the group that went to New York City. I also wish I could have gotten chosen to go to for the Close Up program--you know...you go to Washington DC...

I went to my senior prom stag. I convinced another girlfriend with no date to go by a dress and go stag with me. And we did. One of my favorite high school memories is going into the neighboring town one night, almost getting into a fight with some girls from the reservation in the KMart parking lot, and then putting my car in a snow bank right in front of someone's house and having my friends dig and push before the people inside came out to see what was going on.

My senior year, though, my dad got cancer, and high school kinda faded way down in importance. Really? It's a joke. And I'm glad its over.

I didn't really fit any of the High School cliches. I was a bit of a stoner, fighter, football player, class clown, a straight A student, and was told on more than one occasion that I had a bad attitude.

Oh yeah, I was once suspended in 11th grade for six weeks for beating up a teacher.

Ah...

I didnt belong in any group or clique. Maybe in and of itself, that is a clique, I dunno. The one thing I loved the most was singing in Concert Choir. I was in that from 10th through 12th grade. We represented MN in the 50th annviersary of the ending of WWII and traveled to Paris, Normandy, London...and we got to sing at Notre Dam and Normany...etc. We also performed a tour around our hometown and released a CD and we won multiple awards at state Choir festivals. I had a blast and want to get into a choir again.

Wow, lucky you....

I was a shy, quiet young man who probably took everything around me far too seriously. I was artistic and musical but went to a very conservative Christian Brothers school where neither music, drama or art were subjects. I spent a lot of time with my nose in a book.

Having said this, I got on with everyone in my year. I listened to a lot of cool music and lent my records to a lot of my classmates, which held me in good stead. I also smoked the occasional cigarette with the 'bad' boys. This didn't do my reputation any harm either.
