What were you like in High School?...

So, my former high school was known as the Pelicans, or Mighty Pelicans. Apparently, we were the only school in the US with the white pelican as a mascot. It has been our mascot for years. (60+ i believe).
Anywho, what were you like in highschool? Are you similar today? Are you still friends with those you knew in HS?
I was a drifter. I never considered myself part of any clique/group. I was well known in my class, but wasn't "popular". It was more of, "Hey, its that guy". In fact, as pertaining to "jocks", "Nerds", etc...there were no real boundaries, or defined social cliques. There were groups of teens that had known each other for years, but, they were not 'limited in membership'. So to speak.
I just, was. I had my friends, and I was happy. I am still somewhat of a drifter. I've grown, and such. I do still have friends that I knew in High school.

One question. Does it really matter what you were like in HS?
I know those were 4 years I would rather forget but that has to do with my experience. The cold hard facts are those years helped just a tiny bit in shaping who I am. It was only when I opened my eyes and ears that I truly began to learn. HS was a waste of time.

Just asking...no one has to reply. Entirely up to them.

I think that Elindel has a good question...I mean...sort of makes you look back on who you were then, and who you are NOW.
Im an ISS supervisor. I see many kids during the day that just think HS is a waste of time. They just come to HS to pass the time. They rip up tests and the like and dont even bother trying because they dont need to go to college or have a high school education to get by in the real world...according to them. On the other end of the spectrum...I hear of kids who never set foot in my room who set goals for themselves and achieve amazing levels of success. When I have students in here who just toss a test in the garbage or dont do homework I give them, I say "way to go...aim for failure.'

You know, I am nothing at all like I was back then, thankfully. Maybe it is just as well because I think if I was as sensitive now as I was then, I wouldn't even blogging here.
John does have a point... High School had very little to do with shaping who I am today. Maybe there are some others, particularly here, who need to know this.

True enough, still, for me at least...it shaped a small portion of who I am. (The good part that is)

You aren't even a year out of high school, though.

Well, I went to 3 different schools by the time I graduated from high school. I was in Puerto Rico in 10th grade. I was a loner; I only had friends when it came to English and Math class. I hated it; I had to meet a 7th grader in order to find a girl interested in me.
I went to American High School in Miami Florida for 11th grade. It was a cool school, great teachers and some nice students. I had a few friends; I also met the girl of my dreams. Just never got her to like me, I sucked at charming women; I think I still do today. I was partially a loner here as well. My high School football team was the Patriots; I guess this is when I was starting to be more patriotic about the US.
Eventually I moved to New Jersey where I went to Emerson High School, home of the Bulldogs. I graduated in ’94 with a few friends and a girlfriend (someone was bound to fall sooner or later) but we had to break it off, she was a Jehovah’s witness and I was not so our relationship was prohibited by her parents even though they never knew I existed, at least I think they didn’t. I had a few friends but not many or long enough that they would remember me in the 10 year reunion.
I was alone most of the time, considered weird. I didn’t always keep up with current fashion. I was a geek. I never really fit in with anyone, not the jocks, the geeks, the nerds, the cool people, etc. Funny, besides my girlfriend, the only other girl interested in me was the valedictorian girl. She got the best grades in school, too bad she wasn’t my type.

True enough. Though, that's not to say it hasn't shaped me. In fact, one could say that every day, something changes them. *shrugs* Maybe...

The bottom line is: Don't make comments about others on my blog. (I.e. insults.) They are not needed. You could easily write a private post about that person, and end it there. Now, what *I* view as insults are probably different than your view. Ok...? *shrugs* Just do not do that.
~Charles C~
Good for you.

Hey LW, remind me not to get on your bad side.
Ever considered a job in the WWE? I'm sure you can put a few of those wrestlers and fans to tremble.
Better yet, hows about a Gov't position. Maybe Vice-President or something, keep these people on their feet and doing the right thing. Maybe even the head of the Mexican border patrol, I'm sure if I were an illegal and I bumped into you I would probably never try to cross illegaly again and I would make sure to warn everyone else.
Gotta love that attitud.

Btw, didnt your entire problem with Tex begin when you put yourself in the middle of a dispute she was having with another person? A dispute that didn't involve you? Hmm, that just happened what, yesterday? Did you learn nothing from that?Oh well, I'm outta here. Count yourself lucky if I bother again.
This does involve me as it is on my blog.
Oh, and no worries here.

get it now, you can go around insulting people (like Tex) on someone elses blog
When did *I* ever insult Tex? People?

*shrugs*
Insulting never crossed my mind. I just was trying to get her to understand. *shrugs* I did happen to read that piece. Ya know what the "funny" thing is? I've said I believe in discretion, being cautious in what a person says. Then this happens. Go figure, class A hypocrit.
Anywho, I will take note of that. Not a problem.
Ciao ~Lucas
