It's interesting to see all of the references to oil in those quotes. It shows how the liberal mind is obsessed with hatred for anything to do with oil. At least until they get into their cars to go get their welfare checks, then oil doesn't seem to matter anymore.

Given how the left loves to equate Bush with Hitler, that one about how the majority of Americans are in the lower 80-99% of the intelligence bell curve struck me - that is exactly the kind of belief the Nazi elites held. The notion that the majority of people are too stupid to make "correct" decisions for themselves and the nation is a very fascist concept. The irony is rich indeed.

As a foreigner (non-American) I find it particularly frightening what little tolerance these "Democrats" have for people living in other countries. They cry about Americans losing the jobs while in Iraq, under Saddam Hussein, people had much worse problems. For them Americans seem to be somehow "better" or more valuable than Arabs.

The right doesn't seem to have that problem to that degree. The right believe that American culture is worth more than others (and I agree) but they do seem to accept that individuals living in other countries are free agents who can become what Americans are, and that they are worth it to become what Americans are.

Also, while the generic non-extremist left seem to be blissfully ignorant about what Iraq was before the invasion (and therefor logically assume that the invasion made Iraq worse), these extremists seem to be aware of Saddam's crimes, even if not completely, and find them acceptable.

It's quite disgusting.

Incidentally, unemployment and lack of health insurance was a big problem in Saddam's Iraq. For example relatives of those executed because they were Kurds or Shi'ites might not easily find a job, and I understand Iraqi health insurance didn't cover effects of torture.

It's great to take each sentence, each word and dissect the perceived meanings. Sometimes, what we find does make us cringe or at least we feel the urge to crank up the volume to Comfortably Numb, however, it's a rare speech/presentation that is clean/edited/taut prose and not rag mag journalism. Or, THE TRUE BELIEF OF THE PERSON WHO DELIVERED THE SPEECH! It seems many who contribute on THIS free speech forum have great minds . . . seriously . . . yet, I think some have suffered an accident or perhaps a result of heredity or age-related-onset disease . . . because your right shoulder is over-developed. Therefore, the right arm swings incongruently with the rest of your body. Thankfully, it's a malady that can be fixed if one would desire to do so.

Let's forget the written words for a minute and think about sociological trends. Just that stuff that floats above the clouds and gathers statistics -- any kind of statistic. There is no emotionalizing, merely that the world is always changing. I've been floating in the college/university environment for twenty years (Fine Arts and Sociology) and for the life of me -- I can't find all these Democrats who are "flat-backin'" for oil. Granted, we have those elected officials who live around Bethesda and Alexandria and they vote, they do lots of dinner parties and they scratch back; while someone scratches their itchy back. These are only x-amount of people. In my private opinion, which could be dead wrong, they achieve and acquire these positions because of personality needs -- really bright attorneys who might try to stay ethical are not going to add that 'race' to their lifestyle. Why waste good brains listening to people sit and quarrel in session? OK, state elected officials -- some of them rock! But do they become tarnished or just don't get enough buck-backing to make it to Washington?

Think of how many colleges and universities we have in this nation. Exponentially, we're talking about possibly more poeple [instructors/professors] than our elected political officials. Not that it's always openly discussed, but the only Republicans I know, merely registered when they were voting age. Now they are Nothing. Or Liberals. Or Democrats -- the Dems I know walk to school. Or they ride their old bike. They're concerned about ALTERNATIVE fuel -- which I see Pres. Bush is also "delving deeper" into as he goes on vacation where the burners glow all night. Is he also really gleaning valuable input about sustainable lifestyles, in general? Or is it: We'll give you this, and you give us that. We send bucks, you send us -- fill in the blank. I don't think of him as a "bad man," but he just talks. He's a nice enough chap, I think. My problem with him: He says what he thinks people want to hear. Let's keep the masses calm may be his motto.

Also, numbers are offered each year by varying groups -- and there is a remarkable difference on a state to state level. I have read your words, you are bright and probably well-educated. What we must pullback and "unemotionalize" about is designated $$$$$$. I believe in keeping a uniformed Army for our nation, but as an American I find it sad that educating our children, especially those in socially poor states, is a low priority when you consider what is requested for us to continue to be at war. As most politicians who look for notoriety or re-election -- they throw the money where people are screaming the loudest! When children scream, the sound is not heard in Washington. Truthfully, I'm surprised Americans "collectively" are that high! (lower 80-99%)

Present day -- who are all of these Dems that are cashing their welfare checks? I spend five days a week with people "in the system, either DES, criminal or just plain greedy folks." Most of the people I know do not bother to register to vote, they could give a rat's ass about who lives in Washington and they are continuing to learn how to work a system by word of mouth; peers and parents. Hence, we are creating a third generation who considers it "clever" to get checks in the mail while other people work to provide their living. There are millions of people who vary on the description for the word "intelligence." Sadly, many of them think being smart means knowing how to build a business around fraud, how to not marry so you can keep ALL your children in a good Day Care as a single-mother and stealing is de rigueur. Period.

Republicans, Democrats, Car Dealerships, Dog Groomers -- everyone . . . throw up your white flags! Quit focusing your energy against each other but consider that we are destroying our civilization. Which is OK, it happens. No one person is doing it alone and we don't need to track down that one person, but use your connections, your writing skills and your passion to help solve our illiteracy, and primarily to focus on health care for right now and the future! Our health care problems -- the masses should be walking and talking toward Washington. (again) Or, skip on over to Texas if you can stand the fumes. (Don't get me wrong, I do like fuel for my car and I'm not one of those people who say, "fine, but not in my back yard." But, I think I know the difference between use and abuse. The Bush residence adds some caricature to this whole story of our now sad war. He + Miz Laura should move in with mom and dad! Much nicer, balanced ambience in Kennebunkport. They could even live in a compound in Kennebunk so they wouldn't have to smell the dying marine life!

Remember: the extreme of anything -- e.g., Religion + Politics ARE wonderful examples, these Extreme Rights and Extreme Lefts -- they're dangerous and mentally unhealthy.

Make them hate not liberals for raising taxes but rather offshoring that deprives them of their jobs. Make them hate big government which takes from hard working people such as themselves and gives it to the rich.

That comment was humourour when I know for a fact that I (NOT a Democrat) am definitely NOT in the "lower 80-99%"! I suspect, based on the content and context of writers, that very few of JU's conservative leaning authors fall in that category either (as for the libs, well, I can only think of one or two of them that come across as being moderately intelligent, let alone extremely so).

But I don't need to boost up my own ego by parading around my intelligence.
