What is it with such college football teams, such as (specifically) the Oregon Ducks, in the AP/Coaches/Harris poll,s they are 11th, rising 4 spots... huh?

Not only that, but they rose 2 spots in the BCS standings, and UCLA dropped to #5... WTF!?

Is it me, or do certain teams get little or no respect in (IMO an unargueably biased) BCS poll?

Another Example, 2001 season, the Oregon Ducks were "jumped" by Nebraska... (Nebraska!?) Who had lost 2 games, versus Oregons Undefeated season...

Link

Oregon whipped Colorado, and Miami destroyed Nebraska... Now, why didn't the Ducks, when, technically they should have gone, Oregon was the #2 team. According to the fact that they were the only other undefeated team.

The "crew" that run the BCS claim that they are looking for an alternative, but nearly four years looking have seemed to have dug up squat.

Best Regards, Lucas

Sorry, Doc!! USC deserves all the praises they have beaten everybody and anybody put before them the last 2 years. But other than Oregon, who in the Pac-10 is even above average? Could UCLA beat any above average team with their defense? Stanford almost beat them and Stanford lost to UC-Davis which is a division II team.

I am talking history, not necessarily this year.  Year in and year out, before the BCS, the Pac 10 whooped the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl consitently.

Oops, got my conferences screwed up...better go re-learn them...with the constant (well, maybe not so constant) jockying around its a pain to keep up...

The ACC teams that are good in Football, Florida State, Miami, Boston College and Va. Tech, all came over recently from other conferences.

FSU, sure
BC, hell yeah
VT, ehh, they need their QB to touch up a bit... got whipped previously...

Yeah baby! I believe Oregon has one of the better records vs. big 10....not sure exactley, gotta look it up...

Hey Luc, Oregon NOT playing UCLA actually hurt them in the BCS rankings. You don't want UCLA to lose unless it's to the Ducks. The more teams the Pac-10 has ranked higher helps the conference power rankings which in turn helps the Ducks.

Ehhh, I disagree with ya on this.. in that it didn't entirely hurt Oregon...but hey, we'll have to wait and see... still got a few more weeks to go... Who knows...

But, how many teams have come close... I mean, if they are *so* good, why haven't they steam rollered every one?

Though the most overrated conference the last few years has been the Big 12. Oklahoma has played for National Titles and have gotten crushed. Auburn should have played USC last year. I think going undefeated in the SEC is harder to do than in the Big 12.I really hope USC plays Texas for the Championship this year. Vince Young may be the equalizer against Leinart and Bush. Vince Young is so good he wins despite having Mack Brown as a coach

Oh hell yeah, I think, if any team could do "dethrone" USC, its Texas...(I had hopes the ducks would do it)

Their biggest win is against Fresno St. That's the real reason they're not higher. Now if some huge upset was to happen when USC plays Fresno St. the Ducks might get enough computer points to play in a BCS game.

I agree... by far... Now it comes down to the last few games, if they can get enough respect (so to speak) and cpu points, and have things play out just right...then hello fiesta bowl... (perhaps)

That is true, Doc, the Pac-10 consistently beat the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl. But to Pac-10 teams the Rose Bowl is almost like having a home game. Which is why the SEC always did good in the Sugar Bowl and the SWC always did good in the Cotton Bowl.

Don't you think Big 10 teams would have done better say if the Rose Bowl was played at Soldier's Field every year?

Nothing like biased comments. Two comments from an Oregon fan and a USC fan.

I hope you don't actually believe the Pac-10 is a powerhouse conference.

THe Big ten has no strength any more, I mean, c'mon... Penn State!? How the hell did they get this far.. Where's Michagen, Ohio State and the other 'groupies'....why arn't they lambasting them.... no consistency...

The PAC 10 however, have had ASU, Cal, and Oregon (besides USC) continually do well....

Yes, the BCS is clearly biased. I mean UCSB has never lost a college football and we're not even ranked. What kind of crap is that? They've just got Gaucho envy.

The last pope I could see being Buddhist. That man simply radiated love and compassion.

This new one: nah. Not even a little bit. There's something about him I don't like. I can't quite put my finger in it, but he makes me incredibly uneasy. I think that he's going to lead the catholic curch in a slightly different direction than his predecessor....and I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.

Thank you, now i know i'm not the only one who feels this way... I *DO NOT* like this new pope... at all... he is..."more than what he seems"....
