Chaos, war, hate, death….
This is what is going on in the world…
Step back…
Remove the veil,
Look around…

What do you see?

If you look close enough, we are in a tumultuous time. Comparable to the chaos predicted in the bible’s “end times.” (Not saying we are in “the end times”) But there is no denying it. Chaos reigns. The usa has been crippled by hurricanes, droughts, floods, etc… Weather has withdrew its ‘mea culpa’ and unleashed its wrath. Bitter disputes are tearing apart once closely united countries. War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and a war that goes on behind the scenes…“good vs. evil”….. Violent oppressors and those who appease them, fight those who dare attempt change (for good). Hate, Arab hate towards Israeli’s, Americans and muslims, terrorists… hate is not a good option.

Best Regards, Lucas

If youd read a little history now and then, Lucas, you'd see that these sorts of things have been going on for thousands of years.

I do, i am a history fanatic... BUT.... don't you see that its getting worse... I'm not saying "its the end of the world"... but, the intensity is larger than before... I mean, compared to ww1/ww2 era... back then they didn't have nukes like we do now... they didn't have to worry about maniacs pressing the big red button....

don't you see that its getting worse...

Could it not be getting worse because the population is getting bigger?  Because we have more media coverage of catastrophic events?  We're doing things that affect the planet and the atmosphere; we're helping these things along (thinking global warming and hurricanes here).

As for nukes...well, I think you're getting yourself all worked up over not much.  It's not as if we're on the brink of nuclear war, Lucas.

The times are changing, and so are the methods by which we wage war.

Oh, and does Hiroshima ring any bells with you? 1945, I believe....

(Just because you say you're a history fanatic doesn't mean that you actually read any - or comprehend and retain said knowledge)

I don't know... that's actually something I worry about, a bit. I don't know how much I'm overreacting by being concerned about it, but mygod. That's a lot of power and control held by countries that are always at war. From a so-called peaceful country without nukes, there's nothing much I can do about it, but worry, I guess.

BUT.... don't you see that its getting worse...

I don't know about it getting worse, but it sure seems bad enough. Like Dharma said, we get a lot more information about the crazy shit nowadays. I think every generation thinks "now this is the hilt."

Exactly, we are bringing about our demise...

I could go on and on, Lucas, but I'm tired of doing your research for you. Why do you just toss this shit out with absolutely no effort or study done on your part? You have the internet, and a wealth of information at your fingertips

Hmmm, well, i *STILL* think its worse... thats your opinion, and i have mine... I don't base it on facts... I base it on...something else... call it a gut feeling...

on Nov 14, 2005
Also, regardless of natural disasters, there is also the degradation of morals...

*sigh* you said it was worse. I said that it's not worse per se, it's just that we have a larger population and more media coverage.

Ha! You really think that moral are WORSE now than years ago?! Go take a look at the morality of the middle ages, please.

I'd like an answer about Hiroshima, please. You convieniently left that out.

Please, don't start doing your homework now. I kind of like coming here and telling you you're wrong.

It is worse, because we (humans) are speeding it up... we've been doing it for years... only recently has the heat been turned up...

Yes, I do... example: Back in the 30's/40's Porn wasn't as big a problem as it is now... Back in the 1910's... We didn't have to worry about someone kidnapping our children 24/7.... now, we do...

Also, I'm not wrong, I am allowed my opinion, am i not? Or are we transitioning into a dharma'ocracy?

Bullshit. Yes, it was. It just wasn't as widely publicised. Neither was kidnapping.

I'm trying to tell you that it's the bigger media coverage, Lucas. With the advent of satellite communications and the world wide web news is more broadspread...it reaches more people in a shorter amount of time.

If you think that humans are speeding this up, then you can truthfully say that we've been plotting our own destruction for AEONS, from the time humans began walking upright and started using tools. We're always advancing ourselves.

Wow and all this time I thought it was a nuke we dropped on Hiroshima. My bad.
on Nov 14, 2005
Like Dharma and LW have said, it's all relative to how much information we have available to us now. A few decades back, we just didnt know about most of the crap that went on.

Also, you're ignoring history in your "opinion"/analysis of how things are so bad. Our wars today are MUCH less bloody and dangerous than WWII for example, or Vietnam. It also "seems" worse because you're more aware of things than you were a few years ago. I know I was far less aware of politics and world events before I was able to vote.

Andrew and Hugo were two really bad hurricanes. Camile is another one you might want to look up. Katrina was such a horrible hurricane because it hit a city that was built BELOW SEA LEVEL.

The Midwest floods EVERY YEAR... The Mississippi River has a flood plain, just like the Nile. It's a natural cycle.

Earthquakes have been happening for all of history, and the only reason the death tolls grow higher is that the population is more dense so when one hits a particular region, there are more people that could potentially be affected.

Diseases have been beaten back significantly in the past 50-60 years. The great flu epidemic of WWI was one of the last big killing diseases. Even SARS, which received a ton of press coverage and made to look like a horrible plague, only killed a handful of people.

War is less violent now than it has ever been. You don't have millions dieing in trench warfare. Even with suicide bombers and terrorists laying traps, we just cleared the 2,000 casualty mark in Iraq after being there several years.

Oh, and the whole Israel thing? That's not new. The world has hated and tried to exterminate the Jews for all of recorded history, it's just that lately they've started to gather in one spot, so it's more targeted.

Yes, it's all been your opinion. But there is a point where even opinions can be wrong. I could be of the opinion that the sky is an odd shade of green. When you try and argue things from a historical perspective, you can't make a statement and just go "It's my opinion! I'm not wrong!" History is a series of known facts and events.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's what I said!!!
Insightful to you for that one!

What he said.

You can have an opinion about history, but you cannot state as fact things that are not historically true.
on Nov 14, 2005
It's not a good way to learn, though, and until you rethink your way of thinking, I see little hope for your academic success.

Wow and all this time I thought it was a nuke we dropped on Hiroshima. My bad

*like we do now* they've progressed with better technology...better precision, better.... etc...

If you think that humans are speeding this up, then you can truthfully say that we've been plotting our own destruction for AEONS, from the time humans began walking upright and started using tools. We're always advancing ourselves.

True enough...

Perhaps i was wrong... I apologize...

don't consider porn a problem in the first place, unless people are being forced to view it. But pornography has existed since the beginnings of recorded history, dear, as has prostitution..(even as far back as biblical times, if they were boinking hookers back then what makes you think they weren't looking at naughty pictures as well?) and while certain societies are more open about it these days, I don't see it as a growing problem.

I do, I'm not saying we should go "all out muslim/islamic" and cover every part of a women.. its the degradation and 'dirtiness' that makes it a problem...

I'm trying to tell you that it's the bigger media coverage, Lucas. With the advent of satellite communications and the world wide web news is more broadspread...it reaches more people in a shorter amount of time.

Hmmm....(my stubborn side wants to argue this, but...) I concede... but, still... it doesn't take the media to realize things are heating up.. (well, maybe it does...)

Just as many kids disappeared back then as do now, we just didnt have a way to nationally publicize it the moment it happened. Did you know that in 1910 children were forced to work long hours in factories and mines, right alongside adults? That there were no child labor laws in place? No such thing as statutory rape? No welfare programs to feed and clothe the children of the poor? No DFS to investigate child abuse? No mandatory schooling?

I did say "24/7"... I *never* said you *didn't* have to keep an eye out...

Well, that much is obvious, Lucas, and its why there's no point in debating anything with you. You don't base your statements on fact, you readily admit it, and therefore they are indisputable.

Other than this.. please, list some....

-I never said these things NEVER happened, I said the degree of which they occured... and the frequencey are greater....

No wonder you don't get laid, Lucas, you're all hung up and prissy about sex

And he is 18....right? I would hope that at the ripe old age of 18 he is not getting laid too much. Shesh, what's college for? Buwhahahaha.
