I've been thinking, sure, most people are acquainted with the sense of selfishness in the bad way, i.e.
Concerned chiefly or only with oneself: “Selfish men were... trying to make capital for themselves out of the sacred cause of human rights” (Maria Weston Chapman).
Arising from, characterized by, or showing selfishness: a selfish whim.
Now, lets say we apply it to being selfish in being selfish and that your 'selfish whim' is to make sure that your family is well of. Could that be called selfishness?
