I hear every so often, people saying that they can't stand Islamic people, or Muslims. Why though? I think to myself. What have they done to that person? Do they have a logical/rational reason, or is it pure racism/religious intolerance?

My question for you guys/gals, is, "what is your view towards Muslims/Islam?"

Muslims as individuals are just people. I don't know any personally, so I don't have much of an opinion. If I did know some, I'd form opinions on a case-by-case basis, each individually.

Islam as an ideology has little that commends itself to me. Some of the seven pillars sound like really good ideas, but other religions have the same ideas, as well as other ideas I find sensible and compelling, and far fewer ideas I find bizarre and wrong.

Ok, how do you feel about comments pertaining to them being terrorists, or support terrorism, or "are intolerant to other faiths"?

I think that a comment like that is too general. Almost every organized religion has been intolerant of one faith or another (with the possible exception of the Bahai's). Think of the "Christian" kings of the crusades, or the "Catholic" kings of Spain. I think that we could comfortably call them intolerant. And the crusades were nothing if not terrorism. Sorry, but they were.

Now, I don't support terrorism in any way, shape, or form. But we can't deny that many times religion is the catalyst for prejudice, hatred, and violence.

Which really pisses me off, by the way. As one who believes in God and is a member of a church that was the brunt of much prejudice and hatred, I find it deplorable when religious leaders use their stance to talk bad of other faiths or promote political ideals.

I do too, thats part of the reason why A) I don't belong to a "religion", and I scarcely talk about my faith.

Also -- Thats what i can't stand. I mean, getting to the core of most faiths, they are awesome. Then we introduce human influence,etc... and we get religion. Human interpretation of whatever God desire(s)/desired.
