OH MY!
Published on May 21, 2005 By ----- In Misc
Guns;Uzi's,rifles,m-16's....."Oh My!" is the reply of most anti gun or those ignorant of guns....i myself grew up "with" them (then yet i'm a pacifist) i've shot rifles, handguns, m-16's,etc...and they haven't jumped away and started shooting every where...I think the major problem are the dense people out there that think "guns kill people", and that they should be banned. "no,no,no my clueless friend, in order to have a gun go off (normally) you have to stick your finger, or something else and pull the trigger back...but they don't realize it, they are so transfixed on the horrors done by wackos who get ahold of these guns and are crazy enough to do such things to people, that i don't even thing stephen king could come up with....our first priority, i think, should be to make sure those who murder, should automatically get life,no plea-bargin (i am against the death penalty for cetain personal reasons...)....these criminals get free after serving shortened terms...B'AH!

Of course if the guns were just a little less accessable they may not ever get to stick that little finger on the trigger in the first place. The reality is guns don't kill people do, however a gun is a weapon and thereforer is designed for one purpose, to shoot at something, usually when shot at a human they die.

By the way it is not ignorance to suggest thatpeople should not neccessarily have access to guns, its common sense> What I think is your's and many others opinon is thatthose who are anti gun, don't understand the problem, they do, and are smart enough to recoginise that if you give the wrong person a gun they will use it the wrong way, then the obvious reaction of many people is to react by arming themselves to be able rto defend against these people, and on and on the spiral effect goes on. Of courrse just lowering gun use alone will not stop murder, however it will lower the death rate for gun related crime. Also limiting the type of weapons may have some effect as well, like in many countries that have very limited gun ownership, whilist you can apply for a gun in australia, you cannot get a pistol, except for sporting shooters, farmers, sporting shooters and licensed hunters can get a permit for non automated rifles only. Conversely and please if I am wrong on this let me know, however it is my understanding that there iare no such limitations. You won't stop the sickos that bludgeon , rape and so on from the serial violent crimes, however you will reduce gun related detahs and injuries, by limiting types of weapons, and their caliber, also not to mention the high death toll you get with semi and fully automatic weapons.

You people just don't get it, do you? A criminal doesn't care if the gun used to commit a crime is illegal. Criminals will get guns. A very very small percentage of criminals use legally purchased guns.

The only thing that gets accomplished is taking the guns away from honest people. What is so hard to understand about that?

however you will reduce gun related detahs and injuries,

Yeah, but the number of other violent crimes will increase. Taking guns away does not solve the issue of violence....see what a freakin' mess the UK is in for a good example of what I'm talking about.

Limiting the type and caliber isn't going to have much of an effect either....a semi-automatic weapon can be quite easily modified to be a full auto. Basically, if a person is bound and determined to get their hands on a gun, they will - regardless of any laws that might be aimed at 'control'. The majority of criminals use illegally owned firearms.
