Well, believe it or not. I've always thought about a career in acting. Seriously. No joke. The main thing that kept me off the stage, was my fear of being out in front of so many people. Thankfully i've overcame that over the years, and as a result i can see myself as starting out as an extra. Little parts, and work my way up. Take some acting classes here in klamath falls. Learn some skills. And i'd be set.

I know i said that i was thinking of playing football, this is just another option. Things have opened up, new options springing up that i never thought possible. (Believe me, just a few years ago, acting wasn't one of those options.)

(BTW this isn't a grandiose statement, so no ill-willed comments needed.)

Have a great day!

Lucas, I realize that you're young and are still finding your way, but dude....what you ought to do is stop viewing everything as a 'career' and just do it for fun.  If it turns into a job, then that's wonderful.

I think that you'll find that it's not as easy as 'working your way up'.  There's unions that you HAVE to join and be a member of, and in order to get a membership you have to have so many stage hours or appearances under your belt - but the people who'll hire you without that union card are few and far between, so it's a bit of a catch 22.  (That's the way it used to be anyway, I'm not sure if things have changed...but either way it's not as simple as you think it is).

In the world of acting , there is no being 'set'.  You have to audition, you have to schelp here there and everywhere, and all around you are people who want the exact same thing as you do - that one big break.  We're not talking about major motion pictures either, we're talking about TV commercial parts that are just as hotly contested as any Hollywood movie.

The best thing for you to do is to start out with your local amateur dramatics society.  See what they've got going on, get your feet wet on their stage.  That's where I'd start, anyway.

I have a question for you, and don't take this the wrong way....why is it that every 'career' you want to try involves some sort of noteriety?  First it was football, then it was writing novels, now it's acting.  What's wrong with accounting or nursing or teaching?  I mean, by all means shoot as high as you want to....but just be aware that everyone fails sometimes....and the higher you shoot, the further you have to fall if you fail.

You know, I think I have the perfect career for you: journalism.  It would hone the writing skills you want to develop, and you could use it to report both football AND actors.  Whaddya think?

If you're really, really interested,

--I called it a career for lack of another term at the time. I don't know why, those are just what i have begun to have interest in. I never said, by any means, that accounting, nursing or teaching to be wrong. Teaching is another possible job for me. It just depends on how life goes for me. If i get a lucky chance to star in a role, and my performance is decent, ok, but if i fail, i will know that thats not the path for me. I'm laying out the options, and taking a look at them. As well as preparing, and getting better at various things needed in each job. Not only are the skills needed for each specific job, but they can improve my life over all.

--Possile, but as you said, choose something that i have fun at, and i truly have fun in the jobs/fun things that i've been thinking about doing.

Lucas, no ill-will intended, but just because you SAY it isn't a grandiose statement doesn't mean you're right! Far be it from me to scupper your dreams, but what with all the babysitting, the football training, the two (count 'em!) novels you're writing ... when would you ever find the time to go to acting classes?

I have fun dancing.  Doesn't mean I'm good enough to be a choreographer.

Read them. Contributed to them. It might be better if YOU read them, Lucas!

So what? You can still re-read what was posted previously on your threads, right?

oh, thought you meant other postings... yeah i can. Listen, if you have a problem with me, then don't post on my blog. I see it as it being that way. I'm blogging for myself. If i want to post what is happening in my life, and what has changed. I will. (Within TOS/TOU) I blog for me.

'I blog for me.'
Oh if only!
As for ' oh, thought you meant other postings...' this still makes absolutely no sense Lucas, as YOU were the one who made the suggestion in the first place! Get a grip, man!
