"There is no way to imagine America without New Orleans, and this great city will rise again,"

"I as president am responsible for the problem, and for the solution."

Well, Bush spoke, laid out his plans:

1Urban Homesteading Act; which would make some federal property free to some poor families through a lottery system. In turn the family would secure a mortgage or financial help to build on the lot through a charity like Habitat for Humanity, he said.

2The Department of Homeland Security will undertake an immediate review of every major city's disaster planning, he said.

3Federally funded worker recovery accounts of up to $5,000 for evacuees to spend on job training, classes or child care during the hunt for employment.

4Immediate incentives for job-creating investment, tax relief for small businesses, incentives to companies that create jobs, and loans and loan guarantees for small businesses, including minority-owned enterprises, to get them up and running again

5The president also said the federal government will pay for most of the costs to fix damage during and after Hurricane Katrina

6Bush also said the government would pay for families to reunite.

[B7 Bush ordered all Cabinet secretaries to join in a comprehensive review of the government's faulty response. In addition, he ordered the Department of Homeland Security to undertake an immediate review of emergency plans in every major city in America.

8 A 100 percent reimbursement to states to cover their costs of health care for treating many evacuees through the end of next year

9 1.9 billion to reimburse states for educating displaced students, including some money that could go to religious schools.

10 Six-month forgiveness on student loan interest for affected areas, at an estimated cost of $100 million.

--I gotta say bush is finally getting his butt in gear concerning the hurricane. My main concern is where are we going to get the money? Taxes? As was said, the last thing people rebuilding need is to be met with an increase in taxes. Perhaps we will draw money from iraq? Shall we magically pull the money out of our top hats?

--With the need for money (Approximately 300 Billion is forcasted), what will this do to the economy? Will it cause more troubles?

--I am impressed by bush's change of attitude. Its better than his original demeanor. Especially his emphasis on eliminating the race specific poverty and racism in the area.

--One news reporter said that he has never seen so much promised by a president since FDR. Lets hope it works out.

--Lets hope this plan, combined with the Democrat's plan, will have enough sustenance so that New Orleans may be able to return to its former glory.

--Another thing that i've noticed is that with this hurricane, lines that have been drawn to the "US vs. THEM" battle between liberals and conservatives has become clearer. Its sad but true.

--What ever the cost, however long it takes, New orleans will come 'surging' back.
