Why do I bother to always ask why you smoke? Why do I always get on your nerves? Why? Because I care. You’ve been smoking for decades, and, I don’t want you to die because of it. You know our family has a long history of bronchitis and other lung problems. You say you smoke because it is what gets you through long days, instead of reaching out and beating the occasional asshole you deal with at work. Perhaps it isn’t my place. However, I care. That is why I continually want to ask, find out, and try to have you stop. What do I get in reply? Nothing but anger, or a stern look. Or, as our last...discussion revealed, you told me to mind my own bussiness. So, I give up. I will stand by as you smoke yourself to death. It will be hard for me, although it is what you want. Please know that I will still care, and will always fight the urge to object every time you buy a pack of cigarettes or light one. I care for you.

Signed, Your youngest son.
