Lets say, first of all, that such an idea as “past lives” is real. For those who do not know what these are, they are: “prior incarnations” of a beings soul in previous lives. (e.g. a past life: Having been a plantation owner in South Carolina in the later 1880’s.)

Now, what if I were to say that certain traits or tendencies of the current life were actually influences from prior lives; that the unexplainable fear of being buried alive is influenced by the fact that in a past life you (whoever you may have been) were buried alive.

With that said, I will explain my main point. What if, there could be a way to “explain” homosexuality. That all it is, in holding to “past lives” being real and provable, nothing more than resonances/influences (great ones at that) of prior lives. Example, in your current life you are a male and you are attracted to males. Lets say that in a prior life, one that greatly influences the current one (I.e. one that “resonates” greatly), you were a female. And perhaps greatly feminist. This could explain some homosexuals explanations of being “born homosexual”.

NOTE: Do realize that I have absolutely nothing against homosexuals, etc… This has just been something that I have been ‘mulling’ over for awhile.

Lucas, I do wish you'd stop using "'s quite so prolifically.  It's very irritating to have to wade through your writing when it's dotted with quotation marks that aren't needed and are being used erroneously.  I used to do publicity for a guy who insisted on doing the same thing.  I eventually quit because I couldn't bear to see my work being mangled by his use of quotation marks that were in the wrong places and weren't needed in the first place.  It makes you look stupid, to be honest, like you have no grammatical knowledge at all.

As for your thoughts on reincarnation and homosexuality...well, there's a major flaw in your reasoning.  If you assert that a person is born homosexual because they were homosexual in a previous life then you have to have a root for that homosexuality.  A person may have been reborn a hundred times of times, or they may have been reborn twice...but either way, that homosexuality had to come from somewhere, you dig?  In one of the incarantions the person in question had to have made the decision to act upon their urgings and come out as a gay person.  It had to start somewhere.

Meh. I don't think so.

I think you get one go-round, first of all.

Second, I think we try to make a blanket "reason" for homosexuality when I personally don't think that there is one. People have messed up relationships with members of the same sex. People lack a hormone here or a gene there. I don't think there is just ONE cause that we'll ever be able to pinpoint. *I* choose to see it from a theological standpoint, however.

That's what italics, bold and uppercase letters are for.  They're much easier on the eye than quotation marks, and they're gramatically appropriate.

No response about the homosexual root?  I'm disappointed.

I'm also wondering where your logic is coming from about this at all...

I'm not saying that they were homosexual in a past life; what i am saying is that the influence/resonance of the past life may have caused the present infatuation. e.g. In a past life, you were male and were a "Man's man", and in this life, you are again a male. But for some reason, the past life resonates through to the present time, causing your attraction to males.

The whole idea seems pretty damned silly to me. But then, I do have this unexplainable compulsion to drink mead and slay dragons. What do you suppose that means?

Ehh, I believe that things we can't explain so far, still have a chance of being real. e.g. Past lives, UFO's, etc... Until such time as science proves to me otherwise. And to answer your question, perhaps you had a past life in the middle ages and were a knight. Dragons "existed" greatly...more to the point, in legends, what we know now as komodo dragons, etc... were thought to be "dragons". (So to speak) That, or you might try Dungeons and Dragons...

DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!  Didn't we just talk about that earlier on in the thread????  How in the hell are you ever going to be a published novelist in you keep tossing around quotation marks willy nilly????!!!

But then, I do have this unexplainable compulsion to drink mead and slay dragons. What do you suppose that means?

He was taking the piss, Lucas.  You fell for it.

That makes no sense.  My understanding of a man's man is obviously wildy different to yours.

Sorry...I completely forgot.
